Atlas Open-Sources Flight Booking Skill, Giving AI Agents Live Search and Controlled Booking

Atlas Open-Sources Flight Booking Skill, Giving AI Agents Live Search and Controlled Booking

SINGAPORE, August 18 — Atlas (atlaslovestravel.com), a global travel-tech company connecting 140+ low-cost carriers (LCCs) with travel sellers, today announced the open-source release of Atlas Flight Booking, a Skill that gives AI agents real-time flight search, fare verification and checkpoint controlled booking. Licensed under Apache 2.0 and available now on GitHub and PyPI, the Skill installs into a compatible AI agent with a single command — no flight-booking integration to build from scratch.

The release follows Atlas’s recent expansion of enterprise-grade LCC connectivity to independent travel sellers and developers. Atlas Flight Booking extends that same openness to a specific kind of builder: anyone giving an AI agent real flight capability.

AI agents already understand a travel request — where someone wants to go, when, and what they’d prefer. Where they typically fall short is the transaction itself: confirming a fare is still bookable, pricing in add-ons, and safely completing payment. Without a live connection to fare data and a controlled way to act on it, many agents can only return a list of links for the user to finish the job themselves.

Atlas Flight Booking is built to close that specific gap. It gives an agent the ability to search live fares, confirm pricing, and complete a booking — not just return a list of links for a person to finish.

Rather than aiming for full automation, the Skill is deliberately built around four checkpoints where a human must approve before the agent proceeds: authorising the booking, accepting a price change, choosing a seat fallback in advance, and confirming the final payment summary. The design starts from a simple premise: for a transaction this consequential, the agent should never be guessing on the user’s behalf.

“We open-sourced our Flight Booking Skill for AI agents — not because we wanted agents to book flights fully autonomously, but because we didn’t.” said Mary Li, CEO and Founder of Atlas. “Real transactions have four moments where a human has to say yes: authorization, a price change, a seat fallback, and payment. We built those checkpoints into the flow itself, not just the docs. If you’re building transactional agents, the hard part usually isn’t the API call — it’s knowing when not to make it.”

This initial release supports core booking operations; search, pricing, availability, and creating/issuing a bookingRefunds, cancellations, changes, credit-card payments, and other post-booking operations are being considered for future releases.

The Skill is designed for developers, AI product teams, and agent builders looking to give an AI agent real flight-booking capabilities, without building a flight-booking integration from scratch. It works with an existing Atlas ATRIP account, with no separate commercial agreement required; standard Atlas subscription, transaction and account-funding terms apply.

Atlas Flight Booking Skill is available now on Github, with installation instructions and documentation provided in the repository: https://github.com/atlas-doc/atlas-flight-booking-skill
