Atlas in The News: The Future of Travel
Mary Li, the CEO and Founder of Atlas, took part in the fourth annual TravMedia Summit Asia, where she led a discussion about the future of travel and how new and emerging technologies shape its trajectory.
The TravMedia Summit Asia brought together 275 of Asia’s finest travel editors, writers, influencers, and international travel and tourism brands from hotel groups, destinations, airlines, cruise lines, travel operators and attractions, to discuss the challenges and opportunities defining the travel industry today.
Mary Li, recognized as one of Singapore’s Top 100 Women in Tech, was invited to moderate an engaging panel discussion titled “The Future of Travel: AI, NFTs, and New Technology”. Joined by experts Ben-Jie Lim, Head of Global Markets & Partnerships for airasia Superapp; Josh Speight, Head of Innovation & Partnerships for Mash; and Martha Waslen, Founder & CEO of DayAway, Mary and the panel explored the rise of AI and the integration of cutting-edge technologies in travel and tourism.
The panelists shared examples of how modern technology is impacting the travel industry already and what we should expect to see in the coming years:
- The transformative impact of AI is now undeniable; however, all panelists agreed that in 2024, businesses will find more meaningful ways to incorporate AI into their products and operations, using it as a solution to existing problems and challenges.
- The continuous development of Web3 technologies will also lead to a more strategic application of NFTs across many industries, including travel.
- The superapp concept is likely to grow beyond APAC, where it originated, and become more widespread in other parts of the world.
The Summit is part of TravMedia’s International Media Marketplace (IMM), the leading media networking event for the travel industry, now in its eleventh year. This year’s event covered many topics, including sustainability and destination management, the role of media in shaping the future of travel, the changing media landscape and new technologies.
The stellar line-up of media and industry panellists included presentations by Keynote Speaker Liz Ortiguera, the new Managing Director Asia Pacific and Senior Advisor to the CEO of the World Travel Tourism Commission (WTTC).
